This week is a treadmill. When I got up Monday morning, the treadmill was already on and flying along at a faster pace than I can actually run. I was forced to hop on and hope that I could keep up! A picture comes to mind of those treadmill fails on youtube. There is usually an awful lot of flailing going on and most of the time someone ends up slamming into the wall.

One year ago I was in a very dark place. I was fighting a battle for my life and for my faith. Recently I went back to read my journal from those months. As I read, I was taken back to that place of physical pain, emotional wreckage and intense struggle. As if seeing it all in a vivid flashback, I could feel the emotions of those moments again. Images came back to me from memories I’d buried and blocked from my mind. Yet, I was overwhelmed as what stood out to me was not the struggle, but the clear picture of God’s faithfulness and grace to see me through to where I am today.
You know those moments? The ridiculous ones. The moments when something happens and whether you react by bursting into tears or laughter is based largely on how much sleep you’ve had? Yeah. Those moments. We all have them, right? Please tell me I’m not alone!

-“I see you. I know the pain you feel. I love you. You matter. You are worth it.” To the man standing in an empty room. Pieces of his life with her left to haunt him like the ring on the table. -“I see you. I know the pain you feel. I love you. You matter. You are worth it.” When something dies, you get rid of it. It is as simple as that in the physical world.
If it’s a plant, it goes in the trash. If it is a pet, you bury it. If your dog dies, you don’t just leave him on the rug. You don’t put him in a box in the closet so you can go back and remember him later. If he is dead, you bury him. |
