The last few days I’ve been thinking a lot about the word “overwhelmed.” As a word nerd like me is prone to do, I began looking at different definitions. The word ‘overwhelmed’ can be used as both a verb and an adjective. Here are some of the definitions I found.
Obviously, there isn't really ever a 'good' time to lock your keys in your car. But if there was, it wouldn't be at midnight, still 3 hours from home, in the middle of nowhere, at a truck stop off interstate, wearing a dress. Oh yeah, and by yourself.
True story. But wait, stay with me. It gets better. Or worse in my case... So, here I am, car locked, and I can't find my keys. I had only been in the bathroom, so when I realized they weren't in my hands or the bathroom, the only explanation seemed to be that they were in the car! Especially since the other things I was also carrying weren't missing! Of course, I looked in the windows for the keys, but they weren't in obvious sight.... Knowing that if all else failed I had a spare key in the car, I called for a locksmith. After waiting half an hour for the locksmith to show up, it took all of 2 minutes to get my car unlocked. This would normally be good news. Only, my keys were no where to be found inside the car either! I didn't have the heart to tell the poor, tired man that my keys weren't actually in the car after all..... He drove off telling me to keep my keys in my pocket. (1. I would love to if I knew where they were. 2. I'm wearing a dress. Sorry, no pockets.) Ok back to the story! So now I know that I can at least drive home with my spare key... which makes me feel a little better. But it didn't take long to realize that I wouldn't be able to get into my apartment even if I got to it.... I searched my car multiple times, but came up with nothing... By this point I'm considering the possibility that I have lost my mind. For real. Making sure I had my spare key in hand AND leaving the doors unlocked, I headed back inside to check one last time.... But there really aren't many places for keys to hide in a public restroom! Just as I was heading out, rather defeated, I glanced in the trash can, also known in this truck stop as literally just a hole in the counter top. And of course, there were my keys! Just chilling in the trash..... Logical place for them. I snatched them out, and with probably the strangest look on my face, waltzed out of the bathroom. I was quite bummed that there was no one I could share my tale with at the time! And at the same time.... I couldn't decide if it was more embarrassing or funny. If you've made it this far into my long drawn out story, simply remember this. Keys are great and important and really handy. Not trash. Life is always an adventure with this girl! Here we go!! I'm rather new to this blog thing, but I'm excited to give it a try! I've decided to separate out my pages into a blog, fitness blog, and a page dedicated to healthy living/nutrition. This page will be for the stories of life, faith, family, and the other miscellaneous topics that arise. I decided to start out with a comical story from my life. Check for it in the next post! :)
