You know those moments? The ridiculous ones. The moments when something happens and whether you react by bursting into tears or laughter is based largely on how much sleep you’ve had? Yeah. Those moments. We all have them, right? Please tell me I’m not alone!
Let me give you some examples. I’m talking about these… -The moment when you leave your house in the morning, and three steps later you realize your keys are still hanging on the hook inside the now locked door. -The moment when you spill rice all over the floor, because you put the clothespin on the closed side of the bag and left the open side wide open. -The moment when you somehow spill a whole mug of tea all over yourself… and your laptop. -The moment when you get out of bed in the morning and walk straight into the edge of the doorframe instead of actually through the door. |
Let’s just say… I’ve had those moments. All of them. In the last week. True story!
Oh, I hear you out there… and it’s ok to laugh! I am laughing right there with you. These crazy moments are all too common for me!! If I wasn’t able to laugh at them, I’m pretty sure I’d be miserable.
I remember my mom telling me when I was younger that I had the choice whether to let something ruin my day or not. I don’t think I was very receptive to this advice at the time, but it stuck with me! Nothing can make us have a bad day.
When we have these moments, we have to make a choice. We can let the moment ruin our mood, which often leads to ruining our day. Or, we can laugh at the ridiculousness of it all, shake it off, and keep our eyes on what matters!
God calls us to a life of joy. Joy regardless of circumstances.
There is a great promise that comes with this joy!
“The joy of the Lord is our strength.” (Neh. 8:10)
I definitely need the strength! Walking into walls and cleaning up all these messes is exhausting. :)
