Until I moved to Huron, I had never swam laps before. Well, I take that back. Maybe I had swam 1. Or 2. Since having hip surgery and not being able to run, I started swimming. It is great exercise, relaxing, and well.... fun! Ok, at first it wasn't much fun. I felt like I was drowning... I'm sure I was about as graceful as an elephant. But, it gets better. I promise!! Yesterday I even started doing flip turns! Pretty proud of that! Anyway, I mainly started this post to tell you about Swimoutlet.com! I got a little off track, but I'm back now! I ordered a swimming suit, a swim cap, and a new pair of goggles from Swimoutlet and was impressed with the quality and the prices! The prices are below anything I could find elsewhere. Definitely worth checking out if you swim! Ok, little fishy out! Happy swimming! |

I guess I'm not superwoman... bummer. I was really hoping I could recover with that title! ;)
The recovery process is slow, and I've hit some painful bumps along the way. Between both my hips and my knees giving me troubles... I'm out of the running for anything superwoman related!! In fact, I feel about 50 years older than I am! But I'm still working for the day when I can go out and run 5 miles pain free!! Praying that day is somewhere in my future! For now... I've taken up swimming. I think I'm in love with the water. We might even work out. Me and the water. Who knew we'd be such a great match?! :) I am now almost 9 weeks post hip surgery! I am doing really well. My therapists are impressed with my progress. That's a great feeling! I'm not going to lie, it's a lot of hard work, but in the end it will all be worth it. I'm hoping to be able to start with some short runs in another month. I can't wait. This surgery isn't going to hold me back. :) Thanks for all of your prayers through this!
My training has turned into physical therapy... :) I guess I'm working on mental training! No discouragement here, though. One step at a time, and that step right now is unfortunately not on the running path!
I think that training always has it's highs and lows. Some days you feel on top of the world and have no doubt that you can reach your dreams. Then... there are the days when you're flat out tired, in pain, and wonder if you can walk across the street, let alone run a marathon!
I suppose it's the the ups and the downs that make fighting for and reaching a goal so rewarding. The journey may be bumpy, but I'll just keep hanging on with both hands. :) 48 more days to go!! Prayer requests: - Pray for my fundraiser for Compassion! Looking for 97 more people to partner with me! - Pray for healing for me so that training can continue as planned. I've strained my quad! Just a bump along the way... but a painful one!
Since this is the first blog post in my training blog, I feel like I should clarify that it is NOT my first day of training. I have been actively training since May. I did a half marathon in July, took a little time off, and then hit it hard again. Some of you might be wondering if I am following a specific training plan. I actually am not! I have taken into consideration several different training plans and ideas and combined/tweaked them to fit my needs and goals.
It's pretty crazy, but definitely rewarding. I love seeing the progress that I've made over these months! |
