Today I completed a 19 mile run. 19 miles! Just a few months ago, the thought of this would have slightly horrified me! Of all sports, running is one of the best sports in which to watch progress happen. You get out of it what you put into it. The more you run, the better you become. By putting in a lot of hard work over the last few months, the 3 mile runs turned into 5, then 9, then 12, and now I have found myself only a few short miles from my ultimate goal. It all seems just a little crazy. I suppose, though, that many would argue that even the thought of attempting a marathon is crazy. I completely agree. It is crazy, and that might make me crazy. But I'd rather fly through life a little on the crazy side, than walk on the safe road, bored or afraid to take a risk. Running teaches me so much about life, hard work, perseverance, and never giving up. These lessons flow over into every part of my life. Crazy or not, it works. Not everyone cares to be a runner, and that's okay! I still encourage you to dare to dream big. Dare to set your mind on a goal and work your hardest to achieve it. What have you always wanted to do, but haven't because you are afraid? What are your dreams? Go make them happen! |
