Sitting in my classroom, overwhelmed and just feeling defeated, I decided a change in my Pandora station might help. I glanced at what song came on, and seeing that it was Casting Crowns, I almost hit skip. I didn’t think they were what I wanted to hear… but then I noticed the title. “The Voice of Truth” Like a 2X4 to the head, I was hit with the realization that I’m only going to make it if I stop listening to the doubts and fear and start listening to the voice of Truth! The song says, “The giant’s calling out my name and he laughs at me, reminding me of all the times I’ve tried before and failed. The giant keeps on telling me, time and time again, ‘Boy, you’ll never win! You’ll never win." This was completely how I was feeling!!! About my classroom, about running, about relationships, etc, etc, etc!!! The song doesn’t end like that, though!. It goes on! I love the bridge which says... “But the stone was just the right size to put the giant on the ground. And the waves they don’t seem so high, from on the top of them lookin’ down. I will soar with the wings of eagles, when I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus, singing over me.” “I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth.” Which voices are you listening to today? My classroom still looks like the picture below..... And I want to freak out. But! The voice of truth tells me a different story. It says do not be afraid! There are many voices in our lives, begging for us to listen. We have to make the constant and active choice to listen to the voice of truth!! |
