Some of you have heard about the new outreach team I formed with several other young adults, but many of you have not. My blog has been seriously neglected lately, so I figured an update was in order and this is the perfect time to tell everyone!
A little over a month ago I started an outreach team called K-Motion with a group of young adults from four churches. We are a group committed to being the active hands and feet of Christ in Huron. Loving, serving, going. Faith in action.
This group came out of a desire to simply do something. I was tired of seeing needs all around me and not doing anything about them. But I felt really small. How much of a difference could I really make on my own? And how in the world would I start?
After talking with several other young people, I realized that God had been working in our hearts in similar ways. We all agreed that we needed to do something. We were not ok with sitting back and watching anymore. It was time to stand up and put our faith into action.
After forming the group, we decided to start with having a kid’s club in the park every Tuesday night. It is basically a less structured VBS. We go around before it starts and invite kids in the neighborhood to come. When they get to the park, we have face paint and other games and balls to play with during the hang out time. When everyone is back, we sing a couple of songs, have a Bible lesson, play a couple of games and have a snack. It is simple, but effective.
It has been so fun to see the excitement of the kids each week. We had 27 kids last week and several parents who stayed to listen. They are hearing the Gospel and they are hearing how much God loves them. They are also seeing that there are adults who genuinely care for them and are willing to invest in them. It is amazing to see connections and relationships being built within the neighborhood. We have kids waiting for us when we go around to invite them. I even saw a couple of boys this week who almost immediately asked me, “Next Tuesday night?” They are counting on us to be there, and that is amazing.
I am so excited and yet so humbled by what God is already doing through K-Motion. Starting this group was so far out of my comfort zone, but I see God pushing back my comfort zone each week as I step out in faith. He is doing far greater than I could have imagined. I leave feeling so blessed each week, even as we are out there to bless others. There is no greater place to be than in the center of God’s will for your life. And thank goodness God doesn't only call the qualified. He qualifies the called.
If you would like more information about K-Motion, please get in touch with me! I would love to tell you more about it!

Many people ask where our name came from, so I want to explain that here. To be completely honest, I found the name online in a list of suggested youth program names. But it quickly became our own! The name K-Motion has two meanings for me. First of all, I see the word motion. We are in motion for the King. We are actively living out our faith. The second meaning comes when you pronounce it commotion. One definition of the word commotion is “noisy excitement and confusion.” As people see us having kid’s club in the park, they may ask what the commotion is. We are making a commotion for Jesus. We’re not being quiet about it! We are living it out- noisy and excited!
